For those who already have some experience of programming and want to realize their own projects, the Arduino is the ideal choice. With the Arduino board and the corresponding hardware, including electronic components such as sensors, actuators and modules, you can bring robots to life or build alarm systems. It comes with open-source software, which allows users to write a program to feed the Arduino and in turn control the components. What sounds complex on paper is child’s play in practice. There are plenty of suggestions and instructions. VDE also offers free building instructions to go with children’s books on the electrical engineering profession. This means you can build your own counting device or vital sensor. “The instructions are really cool,” says Linus Musekamp. “If you don’t have the necessary materials or equipment, you can perhaps ask for them at your school or at the Wissenswerkstatt in your city.”
