Stop climate change, worldwide!

Energy engineer Carsten Gatermann is researching the electrical supply of the future.

“I always wanted to do something that had an impact,” is Carsten Gatermann’s response when asked what motivated him to study electrical engineering. As a research assistant in the Department of Electrical Power Supply at the Technical University of Ilmenau, the 24-year-old is currently researching the power grids of the future, because the energy transition will only work with these grids.

But climate change doesn’t just affect us here in Germany. This is why the energy engineer has been involved with Engineers Without Borders, an international development cooperation organization, since his first semester. He is currently working on a project to equip a school in Malawi with a photovoltaics system.
