Dear Readers,

What does global mean to you? A passport full of stamps? Business relationships across national borders? Or an open-minded attitude?

For me, as a young man from Hamburg and the son of a ship’s captain, the big wide world was closely linked to the port from an early age. This was the gateway to the world for me. I was fascinated to watch the seemingly endless streams of container ships bringing all kinds of goods in and out. I quickly realized that my home was just a tiny dot on the globe.

Today, my home port is Hong Kong. Our branch here is just one of many competence centers in Asia and Europe that distinguish VDE as an international partner for safety and quality. We have numerous partnerships with associations and organizations in the most important production countries. This stable network facilitates broad-based business activities, traditional association work and a leading role in international standardization, without which many future industries would be inconceivable today.

In this issue of VDE dialog, join us on a trip around the world, get to know some of the VDE locations and read about how we have become a globally active and connected organization. Wishing you a great journey!

Yours, Andreas Loof, Director of Sales Asia-Pacific
