Elias Biehl is the senior member of the young advisory board and knows exactly what it’s all about when people speak of electrical engineering. A Master’s student in electrical engineering and information technology, he specializes in embedded systems. The 24-year-old fears that his subject has a very bad “dusty image”. And it’s not at all justified: “Most people clearly don’t even know what exciting, promising career paths are open to them with a degree in electrical engineering.” He hopes that the young talent edition of VDE dialog will “paint a clear and up-to-date picture of the opportunities and prospects for electrical engineering in 2024. It’s high time we conveyed an appropriate and modern image.”
After attending the get-together of the VDE university groups in Kaiserslautern last year as a young VDE member, he kept in touch with VDE Young Net Director Rosalia Virga, who put his name forward as an advisory board member for this edition of VDE dialog. Elias gladly agreed: “The idea of participating in a magazine tailored to young people via the editorial advisory board simply sounded exciting. I’ve never done anything like it before. But I enjoy reading magazines and newspapers in my own time. I simply saw potential to contribute my perspective as someone who doesn’t come from a journalistic background.”
