An affair of the heart!

Jonas Pohlmann, 19 years, student

New Zealand, Australia, India, Slovenia, Bulgaria – and that’s not even all the places Jonas Pohlmann has visited in the past few months since leaving school. The 19-year-old is on the move whenever possible, loves traveling and getting to know new countries and people. So he didn’t hesitate when it came to making a detour to Offenbach for the workshop for the VDE dialog young talent edition. “It’s important to me to promote interest in electrical engineering,” he says. He himself has already decided to train in this field. In the fall, he will begin his dual degree in business informatics with a focus on data science in Stuttgart and has deliberately chosen IBM for this. “They have a broad base, so I won’t just be learning computer science. I’ll also learn a lot about electrical engineering.” In his future career, he wants to “drive forward innovations that will make everyday life easier in the future and solve problems sustainably.” And there’s something else that’s particularly important to him: “My job must leave me time for friends and family – and to continue exploring the world.”
